One part of the facial rejuvenation procedure that your plastic surgeon may recommend is a mid-face lift. The procedure is designed to improve the area of the face from the lower eyelid to the upper lip. This 'mid face' area can droop with normal aging and may need to be lifted for a harmonious result. In some patients, a mid-face lift is done as in isolated procedure.
At Austin-Weston, The Center for Cosmetic Surgery in Reston, VA, our board-certified plastic surgeons can create an individualized treatment plan that suits your cosmetic needs.
Mid-Face Lift Reviews
"Really great plastic surgery center. I only wanted a neck lift, but Dr. Weston wisely counseled me to have a full face lift. Concerned that it might just be padding the bill, I researched it and he was absolutely right. With just a lower face lift it would have been obvious I'd had plastic surgery. With the touches to my entire face even my own brother didn't realize I'd had a facelift, he just couldn't get over how great I looked. Dr. Weston respected completely my desire to be conservative. My only regret is that I didn't give him more of a free rein to do a bit more lifting and filling as he saw fit. That is on me though. Great doctor, great staff. I recommend Austin-Weston whole-heartedly."- S.D. / Yelp / Oct 26, 2017
"Dr. Sigal made me look so young with my awesome facelift. All my friends are stunned by how young I look! I loved everything about the experience - Dr. Sigal was fun, the staff was delightful, & everyone knew what they were doing. I'm going to be 66 & I don't look it. Thanks Dr. Sigal & everyone at the Austin-Weston Center!"- J.S. / Google / Dec 14, 2015
"changed my life - i had a facelift, chin implant, and"nose job"--results were spectacular."- Anonymous / Vitals / Dec 16, 2010
"Great surgeon with great attitude - Dr. Poindexter's chairside manner allows his patients to feel at ease and encourages trust. He has never pushed me to undergo any surgical or non surgical procedure, and has refused to perform any procedure he feels I don't need or would have negative results. When a friend told me that a different surgeon had insisted she needed a facelift instead of the filler she wanted, I encouraged her to..."- A. / RateMDs / Dec 27, 2017
"Complete Facelift, Neck Lift, Corners of Mouth, Lips, Eyebrow Lift, Up, Lower Eyelids, Chin, Cheekbones - Their reputation was impeccable, the doctors had a great deal of experience, friend's referral, positive experience when I went for my first consult, very knowledgeable staff, my patient councilor had been through the same procedures and she understood what I would be going through in terms for healing time, and after surgery care. Last but by no means least was the computer program my patient councilor used to give me an idea of how I would look after I was healed."- C. / RateMDs / Oct 14, 2008
A mid-face lift is performed through a lower eyelid incision. This small incision is made below the lower eyelashes and the descended mid-face tissues are identified. Sutures are used to grasp this tissue and it is elevated and sewn to the stable tissue over the cheekbone. This restores the cheek tissues to a more youthful position. Excess lower eyelid skin is typically also removed at the time of the procedure. The mid-face lift is performed as a stand-alone procedure or part of a full facial rejuevanation.
Most patients undergoing a mid-face lift require at least a week off from work or other regular activities. The cheek tissues are intentionally over-lifted since they will relax over the first couple of months. There is usually minimal bruising associated with this procedure but some swelling may occur. Using an ice pack for the first 24 – 48 hours can help control swelling. Optimum results will yield a naturally younger look to the face. This procedure is especially dramatic when combined with other procedures such as a brow lift and eyelid surgery. These combined procedures rejuvenate the cheekbone area and brighten the eyes.
