The plastic surgeons at Austin-Weston, The Center for Cosmetic Surgery understand the importance that skill and artistry play in plastic surgery. This is especially the case for individuals who are transitioning to look physically different than the body they were born with.
For patients desiring to look more feminine, body contouring surgery aims to add fullness and volume to the breasts, hips, and buttocks. In the initial consultation, we will ask the right questions to get a thorough understanding of the type of body shape you desire as well as your overall goals. A unique body contouring surgery plan for a more feminine appearance will be created.
To create a female chest, we recommend patients be on hormones for at least 12 months prior to surgery. Just the addition of hormones (prescribed by your endocrinologist) can create a pleasing breast mound, and some patients elect to not have surgery at all after hormones. If, however, you desire more fullness and volume in the bust, your surgeon will discuss either fat transfer or breast implants as possible options.
At the time of breast implants, liposuction or other body contouring procedures can be performed to help shape the body and give a more feminine appearance.

For breast surgery using fat transfer, the surgeon will first use liposuction to remove fat from one area, and it is then grafted to the breast region. If there is enough volume, this fat can also be used to add to the hips and buttocks to feminize the body shape.
For breast surgery using breast implants, please refer to our section under Breast Procedures. The operation is similar to a female breast augmentation, with the caveat that sometimes more than one procedure may be required to get enough stretch of the chest skin to accept a large implant.
MTF chest surgery is usually performed on an outpatient basis and under general anesthesia in our accredited surgical facility. After the surgery, the treated areas will be bandaged and put into compression garments to encourage blood flow. For patients undergoing longer or multiple procedures, there is an option to recover in our overnight suite. The first followup appointment is the day after surgery when early results can be seen. The final results take months to fully mature.
Austin-Weston is pleased to provide convenient financing options to our patients. Estimating the cost of your procedure will be the first step in determining your out-of-pocket costs and possible insurance coverage. In most cases, unfortunately, insurance providers do not cover cosmetic procedures. However, our office will certainly confirm if any coverage is possible. We also offer a variety of payment options and can work with you on choosing a finance plan that is best for you and your needs.

MTF Body Contouring FAQs
Feminine Body Shapes?
Every female body is unique, but most women generally fall into one of four classic body shapes: pear, banana, apple, and hourglass. The pear-shaped body carries more weight in the highs, butt, and thighs compared to the bust. The banana shape, which is the most common, has a fairly equal distribution of fat between the bust, waist, hips, butt, and thighs. The apple-shaped body has wider shoulders, a larger bust, a larger waist that is less defined, and thinner hips, butt, and thighs. The hourglass shape, which is considered usually considered the ideal female shape, has a narrow, well-defined waist and fat is equally distributed between the bust and lower body.
If the patient has enough excess body fat, an autologous fat transfer will usually produce the most natural-looking results. Fat transfer has the added benefit of removing fat from unwanted areas to further slim and improve the body contour. A fat transfer that adds volume to the buttocks is more commonly known as a Brazilian butt lift.
Silicone Body Implants?
For patients who have a low body fat percentage, the body shape can still be changed through silicone implants. The plastic surgeon will help the patient pick out the shape and size of the implant before the surgery based on the patient’s current body and cosmetic goals.
The waist-to-hip ratio is calculated by dividing the measurement of the waist in inches by the measurement of the hips in inches. Researchers have discovered that women who are considered more attractive have a 0.7 ratio, while males who are considered attractive have a 0.9 ratio. Patients should maintain realistic goals and expectations for their body contouring surgery since their current body shape may limit what the plastic surgeon can accomplish.
